Overview

Apple just released a beta of ARKit for iOS11 Beta. If you didn’t watch WWDC 2017, you can see an example of ARKit in action here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S14AVwaBF-Y

This is Apple’s first step into the world of Augmented Reality, it’s really exciting in that you can build AR apps for a large part of the Apple ecosystem.

You can find a download button for the SDK and the release notes here: https://developer.apple.com/arkit/

Requirements

ARKit requires iOS11+ to run, as of the time of writing you can download iOS11 Beta from the Apple developer downloads page: https://developer.apple.com/download/

For the hardware, the release notes say it is limited to A9/A10 processors, so that means you need an iPhone SE, iPhone6S, iPhone 6S Plus, or newer to run the apps, or on the iPad and iPad 2017 model.

As soon as I have had chance to poke around and kick the tires I will post some more articles and tutorials.
